Помогите с установкой. Я зашел в панель настроек - принтеры - добавить принтер.
Сам принтер был подключен по usb. Его система нашла и даже установила дрова по крайней мере каждый раз в списке дров выходили рекомендуемые пункты, я по ним и устанавливал. Однако пробная печать не идет. Принтер не реагирует.
Смотрел драйвера на официальном сайте - под ОС Линукс дров нет.
Для этого принтера KYOCERA FS-1020 при установке предлагается выбрать один из шести различных драйверов.
Я бы не доверял умолчаниям, а выбрал бы производителя- модель- драйвер ручками, пока не заработает печать.
Однако, если с принтерами в линуксе все более - менее замечательно, то про сканеры этого сказать нельзя. Я при выборе мультифункциональых принтеровсканеров всегда отталкиваюсь от списка хорошо поддерживаемых моделей.
проблема в том, что в каталоге драйверов производителя - данная модель отсутствует.
как собрать драйвер самому? или может это может кто-нибудь сделать за бабло?

CUPS у вас уже стоит, так что открывайте браузер, пишите в строке адреса http://localhost:631 - откроется веб интерфейс CUPS
А там администрирование- добавить принтер- точка подключения- расположение- модель- драйверодин из шести.
Кстати можно из вин драйвера выдернуть PPD файл и скормить его CUPS-u на этапе выбора модели. Тоже вариант. Как я понял этот принтер поддерживает PostScript печать.

Блин! Я тоже попал! Купил супруге на НГ FS-1020MFP, сегодня попробовал подключить правда всё бегом, пока ее дома нет - Ubuntu 12.10 находит, но печати нет. Перепробовал все варианты предложенных дров - результат

Вот с этим попробуй запустить, вроде из одной линейки принтеры должны быть, у меня файлы только для принтера. Фильтр в свойствах должен быть исполняемым

Есть программа VueScan покупаешь её, к сожалению за деньги, и все проблемы с любым сканером решаются
А с принтером только перепробовав все драйвера можно добиться приемлемого результата. Иногда приходилось в виртуальной машине с Windows печатать в файл, а из файла уже печатать в Linux, но это не вариант, разовая операция когда нужно быстро и выход другой долго искать.
