Подключил ноутбук к 4К телевизору Samsung UE40JU6400U через HDMI кабель, но изображение на экране телевизора было лишь 1920х1080 и в настройках ноутбука посмотрел - более высокого разрешения нет, хотя телевизор поддерживает разрешение 3840x2160 при подключении к ПК.

Наиболее вероятная причина - сбой контроллера ноутбука, потому что он не имеет поддержки SSD и вообще накопителей Sata3. В связи с этим он и работает в режиме совместимости, а это часто вызывает сбои.

Подключить внешний дисплей можно кабелями VGA или HDMI. После подключения нажимайте клавиши FnF4 для переключения изображения на ноутбуке должна быть установлена программа Easy Display Manager.
