Основной симптом - ККМ взял, да и отвалился. ККМ подключается к ПК через адаптер COM-USB, определяющийся системой как Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port, висящий на порте COM3. Девайс висит в диспетчере задач с восклицательным знаком и не стартует.
Админ фирмы, обслуживающей ККМ, пытался исправить ситуацию, обновлял драйвера до посинения, но сдался, позвонив мне, и доложив о неисправности железа. Диспетчер устройств мне радостно сообщал Запуск этого устройства невозможен. Код 10. Менять контроллер совершенно не хотелось лень - двигатель прогресса!, потому я полез в гугл с надеждой на воскрешение железки.
Свойства устройства подсказали, что именно искать:
Гуглёж не прошел зря. Проблема оказалась распространенной. А причиной, как всегда, оказалась жадность! Китайские самоделкины слизывали без зазрения совести продукцию фирмы Prolific, на что ответом было внедрение в драйвера контроллера механизма проверки подлинности. Единственный выход - использовать более старые драйвера, нежели представленные на сайте производителя. Вот кстати этот сайт с последними драйверами:

Огромное спасибо! Помогло! Если уже ставили другие драйвера на это устройство то нужно через его свойства в диспетчере устройств выбрать ручную установку драйвера из уже установленных и выбрать старую версию будет уже несколько установленных.

Ребята а помогите мне почти с такой же я устанавливаю PL2303, обновляю список устройств он мне все равно выскакивает с желтым треугольничком как на 1-й только вот такая проблема когда пытаюсь его вручную он мне говорит что не система не нуждается в обновлении.и тут же говорит что Это устройство работает неправильно т.к. I found it with a web search. If I remember right, it was on the Prolific web site. Of course, it was not for Win7, but if memory serves, I set it for XP or Vista and it installed OK.

When you try to install it manually and tell windows to search online for driver, it doesnt find it? For me it installed that way. Anyway, I zipped the driver, you didnt say for what you are using it, so I dont know if it will work for you, but, you can try to install manually it from this folder, just unzip

Prolific USB To Serial Driver Fix!
For Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10!
The Internet is full of web pages discussing this problem, but no one seems to know what causes it. Even the companies selling these USB to Serial adapters appear to be dumfounded.
What has happened is that there have been counterfeit Prolific chips coming from China. The counterfeit chips use the same Vendor ID VID067B and Product ID PID2303 as the authentic Prolific chips. So, Prolific made changes to their newest drivers to render the adapters using counterfeit chips unusable. Unfortunately, it renders all earlier adapters inoperative and so you have to go out and buy new ones. Planned obsolescence? Getting a working driver installed by the average user is almost impossible.
The Prolific 64-bit drivers that Microsoft supplies via Windows Update, Versions 3.4.67.325, 3.4.25.218, 2.1.51.238, and 3.4.62.293 will not work with most adapters and issues the generic Code 10 error. Or, you may get no error at all, but your device will not work. If your adapter was working prior to going to Windows Update, you can roll back to the previous installed driver and all will be well once again. However, if you didnt have a previous driver installed that worked, youll have to go through the process of removing any PL-2303 driver installation programs, the actual driver files, and the information file BEFORE you are able to successfully install the correct driver. What aggravates the issue is that there are many Prolific Driver Removal Tools that do not work properly as well! And Windows 8, 8.1, and Window 10 are set by default to automatically update your drivers without your permission or even notifying you of the update. So, no matter how many times you remove the driver files and reboot, the next time you insert the USB-To-Serial adapter, Windows installs the newest non-working version again. Yes, its frustrating as hell.
The only 64-bit driver I have ever found that works with all the Prolific adapters is Version 3.3.2.102. The below installer program will remove all of the incompatible drivers, make a change so that Windows can never update the driver without your okay, and install the Version 3.3.2.102 compatible drivers.
