One trick is to go to the manufacturers website and get a detailed list of all the hardware in the computer. Then go through Device Manager item by item and cross of the ones that are installed correctly. Whatever is left on your list after youre done is the unknown device. You can then get the proper driver s from the manufacturer.
With Netbooks, wireless network stuff, touchpads, USB hubs and IR stuff are the most common to have trouble with, assuming the things boots and does the basic stuff sound, video, etc all right.

Usually, when you buy any hardware the drivers come along with it on a disc. If you lose the driver disc you can always download the necessary drivers from the manufacturers website. But what do you do when you are not sure of the manufacturer of the hardware?
Every device has a Vendor and Device id associated with it. If you can find this ID, you can find the manufacturer. In Windows its easy to find the vendor and device id.
The hardware whose drivers are missing will appear as Unknown device, so its easier to locate the device.
Right click on the unknown device and click on Properties.
Under the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id from the drop down box.
The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID. In this example:
Once you have obtained both the IDs, proceed to PCI Database. There you can either search for the vendor from the vendor ID or directly get information about the device along with the vendor name by searching with the device ID.
Great isnt it? Now you will never have to go hunting for correct drivers.

Installing Windows on your Notebook or Desktop is always easy but finding a missing device driver may no be very straight forward. We could easily find driver related issues by checking Windows Device Manager. If any driver is not installed properly, then you will find an Unknown Device in Device Manager. Have a look on this screenshot?
Now you need to find which is this Unknown Device. The best way to find a details about an Unknown Device is by findings its Hardware IDs. To find the Hardware Ids, double click on Unknown Device, then click on the Details tab. Once you are at the Details tab, you will find a drop-down menu over there. Select Hardware IDs or Device Instance Path from the list. You will see something similar to this refer screenshot.
Okay, here I selected Device Instance Path from the list and I find some information about this Unknown device. The String what you see in this window is very important and will surely helps us to find the right driver for the device. Here the Device Ids are:
The above said Hardware IDs belongs to Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver ISCT ACPI VIRTUAL DEVICE ACPIINT33A0. This driver is available from Intel and will work on both Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 Microsoft Windows 8 8.1 32-bit, 64-bit and Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit, 64-bit. Please download the Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver from here
Once you download the Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver on your Notebook or Desktop, please install it on your computer. Once you installed the Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver, please restart the Notebook for the changes to take affect.
Sometime, when you install the Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver on your Notebook, you may receive an error message stating Platform Check Failed: Intel Smart Connect Technology Device not found in BIOS, or it is not enabled.
This error happens because you have not enabled Intel Smart Connect Technology device in Notebook or Desktop BIOS. Please refer the manufacturer user documentation to find a way to enable this device in BIOS. Usually the settings is available under Advanced Menu of your BIOS.
Intel Smart Connect Technology Driver is common for Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Asus, MSI, ASRock and for most of other manufactures. So always try the Intel driver provided above on your machine before you start crying!
